StaxRip For Windows Review

Here is the latest setup of StaxRip for windows available for download.  StaxRip is a great, free open source application for Windows, that offers you with the possibility to convert DVD files and even DV and DVB captures into a compressed video format file. The program has a brilliant feature like it can support a number of popular formats, including DivX, XviD, x264, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4; and also audio files like MP3, AC3, MP2/MPA, AAC, DTS and WAV.

As a result of its broad range of supported output and input formats, StaxRip is an extremely versatile tool that can be used for nearly any purpose. The developers of the app has added new features in order to get the most out of it, you’ll need to spend some time familiarizing yourself with its various settings and functions.

Performance

In our tests, StaxRip proved to be very reliable in terms of stability and performance. CPU and RAM consumption was fair, and the program carried out conversion tasks swiftly without causing the operating system to hang or crash. However, the main downside of this software is that it’s targeted at advanced users only since it’s not intuitive for beginners.

The GUI of StaxRip is well designed, and all the options are neatly arranged and clearly labeled. The one thing is unique in the app is that, it providing a dropdown menu that makes it easy to select the desired output format, and it’s also possible to choose the preferred resolution for the resulting video file. In addition, you can easily set the destination folder and add subtitles to your project.

Desired Options

After selecting the desired options, you just have to click on ‘Start’ to begin the conversion process. Once the job is finished, you can check the results in the ‘Output’ tab. If everything is okay, you can play back the resulting AVI or MKV file in your favorite video player.

What’s New

Another interesting option offered by StaxRip is the possibility to adjust profiles according to your preferences. This way, you can create a profile that’s optimized for your hardware and the types of videos you usually work with. The program has lots of presets to help you get started.

The only thing I found missing in staxrip was the ability to set external subtitles. That would be a nice to have feature especially if you’re working with DTS audio streams. Overall, I’m very happy with staxrip and it’s definitely a big improvement over the old 20mb version.

This free software application is available to download from the Windows Store and can be run on any 32-bit or 64-bit edition of the operating system. For more details, refer to the developer’s website. If you’re not satisfied with this program, you can always try some other similar apps, such as MakeMKV or VLC.
